In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to God, Lord of the Worlds. Peace and blessings be upon the noblest of prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions. This is the prescribed supplication (ruqyah) for the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan. It is a comprehensive supplication, by God's permission, for protection and treatment from magic, possession, the evil eye, and envy, derived from the Holy Quran and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet. We ask God to make it purely for His sake, and to make it beneficial and to heal every sick person. Intention and Sincerity: Begin the supplication with a sincere intention for God Almighty to heal you and grant you well-being, and to purify your home and family from all evil. Preparation: Perform ablution (wudu), focus your heart, and be humble, with complete certainty that healing is in God's hands alone, and that supplication is a means to that end. First: Verses from the Holy Quran (to be recited over the sick person, or over water or oil) 1. Surah Al-Fatihah: (7 times) In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (1) All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. (2) The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. (3) Master of the Day of Judgment. (4) You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. (5) Guide us to the straight path. (6) The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray. (7) 2. Ayat al-Kursi: (7 times) Allah does not There is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the One Who is All-Sufficient. The Most High, the Most Great. 3. Al-Ikhlas and the two Mu'awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Nas): (3 times or 7 times) Surah Al-Ikhlas: Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, (1) Allah, the Eternal Refuge. (2) He neither begets nor is born, (3) Nor is there to Him any equivalent." (4) Surah Al-Falaq: Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak (1) From the evil of that which He has created (2) And from the evil of darkness when it settles (3) And from the evil of the blowers in knots (4) And from the evil of an envier when he envies." (5) * Surah An-Nas: Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, (1) The King of mankind, (2) The God of mankind, (3) From the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, (4) Who whispers into the hearts of mankind, (5) From among the jinn and mankind." (6) Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, (1) The King of mankind, (2) The God of mankind, (3) From the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, (4) Who whispers into the hearts of mankind, (5) From among the jinn and mankind." 4. The first five verses of Surah Al-Baqarah: (once) Alif Lam Mim (1) This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah (2) Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them (3) And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain (4) Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. (5) 5. Verses about magic from Surah Al-A'raf: (once) And We inspired Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it swallowed up what they were falsely claiming. (117) So the truth was established, and what they were doing was proved false. (118) And they were defeated there and returned humiliated. (119) 6. Verses from Surah Yunus that nullify magic: (once) And Pharaoh said, “Bring me every skilled magician.” (79) So when the magicians came, Moses said to them, “Throw what you are going to throw.” (80) And when they threw, Moses said, “What you have brought is magic. Indeed, Allah will nullify it. Indeed, Allah does not amend the work of corrupters. (81) And Allah establishes the truth by His words, even if the criminals dislike it.” (82) Second: Prophetic Supplications (Repeat 3 or 7 times) 1. Supplication for Breaking Spells and Healing: "O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the affliction and heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no trace of illness." 2. Supplication for Protection from the Evil Eye and Envy: "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created." "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every harmful creature, and from every envious eye."
