When the conversation among the family lulls and you just know an onslaught of deadly but PROBABLY well-intended jabs are coming your way about your inadequacies, just say ‘Did you know in Australia they have a hot Christmas?” You’ll hear some scoffs, first from Uncle Lajos who says it’s not possible, then from an Okos Tojas whose dentist’s sister when to Australia once. Let that happen, then say “Look at this video that my Australian friend made” Make them watch the video, and then troll your family. Say “I think it’s so much better than Christmas here” (even though you don’t think so). This will spark all kinds of unpleasant discussion, which while jarring and strange, will have nothing to do with you, your career, your relationships or your posture etc. This will last for 12-17 minutes, then you’ll be able to wrangle back in the mood with some time-wasting fodder questions from the video, like “Did you ever make imposter szaloncukor when you were a child?”, “Is there any story about Christmas Decoration X you have there?”, “Have you ever had a mango or pavlova before?”, “Let’s all make fake accounts and subscribe to Ausztral Tom, yes?” This is only a brief reprieve so use it wisely and good luck!
