Flywheel Repair on a Tractor – Machining a Custom Hub and Final Assembly

In this video I repair a damaged tractor flywheel by machining a custom steel hub and restoring the taper fit on the crankshaft. The original flywheel hub was damaged, so a new precision sleeve was made on a lathe. The flywheel was carefully centered, bored and fitted with the new hub. After machining, the taper was restored and the flywheel was mounted back on the engine. Steps shown in the video: • Centering the flywheel • Boring the damaged hub • Machining a new steel sleeve • Press fitting the sleeve • Drilling interference pins • Restoring the crankshaft taper • Final installation and torqueing During the assembly high-strength bolts and nuts were used together with Loctite bearing and thread compounds to ensure a strong and reliable connection. This repair brings the flywheel back to life and allows the tractor engine to run safely again.
