A talk by Dr Carlo Rovelli: "Half-way through the Woods. The 20th c. Scientific Revolution and its Incompleteness" A talk held on 5 May 2025 for the Gaza Excellence Talks, a series of scientific webinars organised by Al-Aqsa University (Gaza) and Academic Solidarity with Palestine. Carlo Rovelli is a theoretical physicist. His work has focused on quantum gravity, the nature of space and time, and on the interpretation of quantum theory. He has also worked on the history and philosophy of science. Rovell was born in Italy and worked in the United States, France and Canada. He is member of the Institut Universitaire de France, honorary professor of the Beijing Normal University, Honoris Causa Laureate of the Universidad de San Martin, Buenos Aires, member of the Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences and is affiliated to the University of Aix-Marseille in France, the philosophy department of the Western Ontario University and the Perimeter Institute in Canada, and is Fractal Faculty at the Santa fe Institute for Complexity. Among his awards are the 1996 Xanthopoulos Award and the 2024 Lewis Thomas Prize for Writing About Science. He has written books for the large public translated into more than fifty languages. In 2019 he promoted the Peace Dividend Initiative, involving 60 Nobel Laureates in asking for a worldwide collaborative military expenses reduction.
