This video is a brief description of the sluice. One thing I added to the sluice is an extra setting for the screen height. Level works well in slower water. When running in fast water you might want to lower the end of the screen 1/2" this will restrict the water flow under the perforated plate allowing the fines to drop out. This is also a good setting when using pumped water flow. Mainly because you will be working with shallow fast water. When using in-stream the sluice works best in about 2-3" depth of flow, this is a little deeper then a standard sluice. We want the larger rocks to move out of the box. We want at least 2" because it takes less water force to move the 2-3" rocks out, if we ran in 1" of water it would take twice the amount of water velocity to move that same rock. Fast water velocity will hinder our recovery. Sorry about the shaky camera, I hope you didn't get dizzy watching. For anyone looking to buy they can be purchased through pay pal at Thomascreek.net The 30/18 unit is on sale at $95 dollars. This price is unheard of for what you're getting.
