Singer 216G and Singer 316G. Basic start up of the machines.

Both the 216G and the 316G had grease incorrectly placed in their gear boxes which had worked its way into the shafts and bushings within the machine and then dried out causing the grease to set like concrete, freezing up the machines solid. These machines are oil ONLY as is the 201. (owners take note). Both machines would have been scrapped or broken down for parts. The 216G I imported from Germany during "lockdown" and the 316G I found locally. Both machines are based on the Haid und Neu LZ when Singer bought the company out in 1954 and changed a few things to make it look as a Singer (but cannot be considered a true Singer). These machines along with others where a stop gap until the factory could be retooled for aluminium bodied machines.
