[Fiction] It was 1948, the first batch of NYC PA arrived and started hauling all first class crack trains of New York Central, but this was not the first-day NYCRR execute their dieselization plan for their "Great Steel Fleet". A test was conducted and arranged by the NYCRR which an ALCo PA ABA set diesel engine hauling an 18-car "20th Century Limited" (1940 livery) and a section of the Century was powered by the good old Dreyfuss Super Hudson J3a and running in parallel on a 50 miles long track for data collecting and comparison. Due to the 79mph speed limited was already in effect, one of the most important things of this test is to see which train would reach 79mph first and how long would the slower train catch up the faster train... [The End] Note that in reality, the Dreyfuss Hudson were de-streamlined around 1945! I hope you love this "diesel vs steam" video, thank you for watching! :- ) ALCo PA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALCO_PA Dreyfuss Hudson and the 20th Century Limited trainset by K&L Trainz
