Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2025 is an annual conference centered on Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia and other related projects) in countries of Central and Eastern Europe (more recently, also in Central Asia). It features presentations on Wikimedia projects, other wikis, free/open source software, free knowledge and free content, and the social and technical aspects of these topics. The main goal of the meeting is to promote, support and develop cross-border collaboration between various Wikimedia chapters, thematic organisations, user groups, projects and other communities in the region. The 2025 meeting will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, 26-28 September, organized by Wikimedia UG Greece. A Learning Day will be held on the 25th September, prior to the Main Conference. The focus of the Learning Day will be Linked Open Data (Wikidata/Wikibase) and Libraries. The idea was conceived at an informal meetup that took place on 6 August 2011 at Wikimania 2011 in Haifa. Most attendees from the region's countries were present and shared their experiences establishing a more global community. The history of CEE meetings already spans 13 years, starting from the first meeting in Belgrade (2012). The following meetings were organized in Modra (2013), Kyiv (2014), Voore (2015), Dilijan (2016), Warsaw (2017), Lviv (2018), Belgrade (2019), two online meetings during the Covid pandemic, Ohrid (2022), Tbilisi (2023) and the last one took place in Istanbul (2024). _____________________________ Venue: Grand Hotel Palace, Thessaloniki, Greece Conference Hall: Zeus Date: Saturday, 27 September 2025 Time: 09:00 – 10:30 (GMT+3) Time: 06:00 – 07:30 (UTC) Theme: Sharing & Learning _____________________________ Topic: A new core curriculum: seven new introductory modules from the Wikimedia Foundation Author: • Asaf Bartov, Wikimedia Foundation Topic: All about the 1st global Wikimedia Youth Conference (in 5 mins) Author: • Klara Joklova, Wikimedia Czech Republic Topic: 10 years Wikiexpeditions - The exhibition Authors: • Nino Bogdanovski, Wikimedia MKD Topic: (Un)known Women on Wikipedia: Campaigns That Change the Narrative Author: • Olena Vinsent, Wikimedia Ukraine Topic: 15 postgraduate students edit Wikipedia: Greek education program in action Author: • Nikos Likomitros, Wikimedia Community User Group Greece Topic: 1lib1ref - 1 Community Authors: • Claudia Serbanuta, Wikimedian of Romania and Moldova User Group • Elena Damian, Wikimedian of Romania and Moldova User Group • Maria-Magdalena Barascu, Wikimedian of Romania and Moldova User Group Topic: Traditional Tatar and Bashkir music on Wiki-area.
