#boatspeedometerrepair #boatspeedometer #speedometerfix Recently my speedometer stopped working on my 18ft bowrider with a Mercruiser 3.0 Alpha Drive and here’s what I did to fix it. In the front center of the lower stern drive unit there is a small water intake hole that sends pressure up to the speedometer. My hole became clogged with debris which stopped the flow of water and the speedometer from reading. I used a 3/32 drill bit to dislodge the seaweed and sand that was clogging the hole by first turning the drill bit by hand to loosen some debris and then I used a cordless drill to slowly work the drill bit in until it cleared all the debris. I then disconnected the speedo connector from the back of the stern drive unit and the hose from the connector. Next I placed a 3/32 fuel line over the speedo connector and the other end on a plastic syringe and re-attached to the stern drive. I squeezed the water through the syringe to make sure the line was clear and flowing properly and all was good. I took the boat back on the water to test and the speedometer was back to functioning properly. Hope this was helpful and thanks for watching. https://buymeacoffee.com/wgibson 3/32 Fuel Line - https://amzn.to/37eKVHw Syringe - https://amzn.to/39E8P00 3/32 Drill Bit - https://amzn.to/3yiNfbA Disclaimer: This channel is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.
