#Delhipolice #Dwarka #JewelaryRobbory #delhicrime #AntiBurglaryCellDelhiPolice #kalkaji #CCTV #Amritsar In Delhi, stories of theft keep coming up, but the latest one is straight out of a movie scene — a couple working like “Bunty-Babli,” fooling shopkeepers and making off with jewelry every time. The Anti-Burglary Cell of Delhi Police caught a man and a woman — 35-year-old Rajiv and 34-year-old Sanya. Both are from Amritsar, Punjab, and had turned to theft after falling into addiction and financial ruin. Their method was clever: they would enter jewelry showrooms as customers, distract the shop owner, and snatch gold and jewelry worth lakhs at the perfect moment. They even acted confidently in front of cameras, tricked the owners with smooth talk, and slid the jewelry to each other to escape without getting caught. Each time, the shopkeepers had no clue when their rings, lockets, or gold tops disappeared. The police found the case unusual — CCTV footage and technical inputs led to a thorough investigation. Following the trail from the footage, a route to a sports complex, cab booking details, and mobile/IP addresses eventually led to a raid in Dwarka, Delhi. During the raid, police recovered gold rings, a pair of gold tops, a gold locket, and around ₹8,000 in cash. The stolen jewelry was reportedly sold at a “Cash for Gold” shop in Kalkaji. So far, three cases have been cracked, but investigations into other incidents are ongoing — evidence points to crimes in seven areas of Delhi: Burari, West Vihar, Monastery Market ISBT, Lajpat Nagar, Khan Market, Dwarka, and other localities. The couple is under extended interrogation, and police are tracing other affected shopkeepers to file additional cases. Some personal background has also come to light: Rajiv used to run a property dealing office in Amritsar. In 2023, he fell into bad company and became addicted to drugs, and soon after, Sanya also became addicted. The couple had met in 2013, married, and later divorced. Financial struggles eventually pushed them into a life of crime. Now, Delhi Police are trying to gather more CCTV footage, shopkeeper statements, and cab booking records to trace other accomplices and buyers. The lesson for shopkeepers is clear — don’t rely only on appearances, stay alert, and report any suspicious activity immediately. Rajiv and Sanya’s arrest has exposed the cunning couple’s schemes, but the story may have more twists ahead — the investigation is still ongoing.
