It was also the first time our whole family made this journey together. Starting from New Jersey, we spent nearly 40 hours flying and connecting before arriving in Shanghai. From there, we drove for two days from the south to the north to arrive at Daddy’s hometown. For the girls, it was a long and unfamiliar journey. For us, it truly felt like going home. 👣 Travel gives them a chance to see a world very different from our rural life in America — different landscapes, different winters, different ways of celebrating. 🧧 Chinese New Year is something special. They may not fully understand what “home” means yet, but these moments — the noise, the warmth, the laughter — will stay with them.
