Pileh Lagoon + Bamboo Island | I Said YES to a Life-Changing New Adventure!

Pileh Lagoon and Bamboo Island are two of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.. and we got them to ourselves (perks of the pandemic :D). After months stranded on Phi Phi, I said “yes” to a life-changing new adventure… moving onto a sailboat! With Thailand still in lockdown and the world uncertain, I stayed on the stunning Phi Phi Islands- and ended up experiencing some of the clearest turquoise water I’ve ever seen. Pileh Lagoon was nearly empty, and exploring it without crowds felt surreal. Bamboo Island was just as breathtaking: white sand, warm water, and a 90’s-screensaver beach all to myself. After a chance dinner with friends, I met a sailor anchored nearby and was invited aboard a 43-foot sailboat named Cintana. With borders closed and travel options limited, joining his boat as crew opened the door to a new way of life. I’m excited to learn everything from sailing and celestial navigation to weather patterns, ocean currents, and boat maintenance.
