Good Shepherd Church ⛪️ is a Roman Catholic Church located on Ormeau Road in the south of Belfast City. The foundation stone for the Good Shepherd Church was laid by Most Rev Joseph MacRory in March 1914. The main structure of the church was completed and in use for Mass by 28th August 1917. Mass was celebrated on a temporary wooden altar. The new chapel was solemnly dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus by Bishop McRory on 18 April 1920. William Henry Byrne & Sons designed this church. It was originally built as a Convent Church for the Good Shepherd Sisters in the adjoining Convent founded in the late 19th Century. The Holy Rosary Church for the Parish was originally located across the road from it and was built in 1898. In the 1970's it became too small for the congregation while Good Shepherd Church was too big for the needs of the nuns and a decision was made to relocate the Parish Church to Good Shepherd Church. 1980 Holy Rosary Church closed (with it currently boarded up) and Good Shepherd Church became the Parish Church due to it being a larger church. The Good Shepherd sisters still reside in the adjoining Convent. This church is one of two churches in Holy Rosary Parish in the Diocese of Down and Connor.
