Touted as the best coastal day hike in South Africa, the Robberg Point Hiking Trail is a 9km looped route in the Robberg Nature Reserve. Sporting magnificent panoramic coastal views of Plettenberg Bay and the rugged shoreline towards Knysna, the trail offers cliff top views of a Cape Fur Seal colony, spectacular geology and the chance to glimpse large sharks (great White Sharks between April and September and Bronze Whaler Sharks between October and March). The trail is also a great land based whale watching platform, with sightings of Humpback and Southern Right whales possible between June and November. The additional detour to the Island, reached via a tombola, is home to a breeding colony of Kelp Gulls between October and January. Along the entire route, the Southern Rock Agama's, watch you passing, ready to ambush any insects that you disturb.
