Earbuds are not part of the job. They isolate you from your work environment and workplace hazards. This video demonstrates the dangers of wearing earbuds or headphones in a warehouse. The hazards workers may be exposed to depend on the kind of work they do. Any environment where a worker wears earbuds or listens to music while working could be distracting and prevent the worker from hearing alarms, sirens, or warnings from other workers. It’s also important to know that earbuds and other headphones are not work equipment and don’t provide hearing protection. This educational video for young workers highlights the importance of not wearing earbuds at work and is a useful training tool for health and safety in warehouses and other workplaces.
