It took a little more than an hour to grind down the stump of an 75 year old silver maple. I know the home owner and he loved to point out that he "had planted" when he bought his 1960 home. He purchased ten year old saplings at a local nursery and that first spring, at his new home, he put in a bunch of trees. This one was the first to go. It had been hit by lightning, sometime in the past few years, and it just never came back. Taking it down was way past his capabilities so he used a tree service that he was familar with. It took four guys about five hours to take down the tree and remove the stump.
