Westerton Male Voice Choir from Glasgow performing "Wild Mountain Thyme" and "Loch Lomond" at Falcon Square in Inverness, Scotland. This was on Saturday 18th May during the 2024 Inverness Classic Vehicle Show in the city centre. Westerton Male Voice Choir are based in Glasgow and aim to make singing accessible to as many men as possible. After their debut concerts last year, they were on their tour of the Highlands when this event allowed them to entertain crowds in Inverness. The choir is led by Musical Director Bryan Marshall with accompanist Penny Watson from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The song ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’ is a folk song from both Scotland and Northern Ireland. Also known as ‘Will ye go lassie go’, the song dates back to the 1700’s, and has been written and re-written by many people. The first recorded was from Scottish poet Robert Tannahill, who adapted the words from an older song around 1796. This used a melody by composer Robert Archilbald Smith, who himself had adapted from an older song called ‘The Braes of Balquhither’. #scotland #wildmountainthyme #malevoicechoir #inverness #westerton
