Website: https://www.flacowatts.com This video's for soil geeks who believe the better the soil the better the crop. (I apologize for the scratching on the audio. I forgot to take off my headphones and they rubbed on the mic.) The trial question I'm looking to answer is: What base potting soil is best for my setup? I geek out on soil and have for awhile. I, like many others I feel, are in pursuit of the "Ideal Potting Soil" or, as it is commonly called, "Super Soil." I've developed hundreds of recipes over the years and they are all made up of three main parts: 1) Base - this is the structure of the medium. Common materials used are Peat Moss, Coco coir, Perlite, Pumice, Vermiculite, etc. 2) OM - Organic Matter - Common materials used are Earthworm Castings, Compost, Forest Compost, etc. 3) Amendment - Food and minerals. Common materials used are minerals such as Dolomite lime, Azomite, Sulfate of Potash, as well as plant or animal based foods such as Alfalfa meal, Bone meal, and many commercial soils use synthetic salts such as Ammonium Nitrate, Potassium Phosphate, etc. I've experimented with probably thousands of combinations of all three of the above groups. What I've learned is that the possibilities are endless. Potting Soil creation has become my main focus that I believe maximizes my quality. There's a certain joy in knowing that if you can create an ideal or near ideal soil, that your results cannot be matched. In this video I'm running a trial Isolating different bases. Basically, I'll be running half the room with straight 707 from Root Organics vs a 50/50 blend of 707 and ProMix HP. Feel free to ask any questions or tell me where you're at in your journey as a soil maker. ------------------------------------------ If you're one of those people swimming in more money than you know what to do with, please consider supporting us on our mission to educate an entire generation of responsible and high-level home cannabis cultivators. I don't know those kind of people so I have to fund this on my own at the moment. But... we have a big vision and could certainly use help. Alternatively, if you're more like me in your means... consider pledging 5 or 10 bucks a month to help us launch our courses via this link: / flacowatts I just set that up and have no idea how to use it but I'll learn soon enough.
