Gateway Chorus and Orff Ensemble Concert May 2023

This school year was a very exciting year for the Gateway Music Program. We started TWO brand new ensembles for 4th and 5th graders- Chorus and Orff Ensemble. No audition required. Just interest and exploration. We had a wonderful time learning new skills and enjoying making music together each week during recess. We gave our first concert in May for our families and school community. Everyone was so proud of their hard work! We look forward to continuing this tradition in the future. Our concert rep was chosen by the students out of their favorite pieces from this spring. The chorus performed What a Wonderful World, Harriet Tubman, and When I Close My Eyes. The Orff Ensemble performed Mbira and an Improvisation Medley that they composed. We joined forces to perform two pieces as a combined group: Funga Alafia and The Impossible is Possible. I'd also like to thank Tim Henry and SONOR Music for the generous gift of the brand new orff instruments that you see on the stage today. We are so incredibly overwhelmed with gratitude at this donation for our students. They will get SO much use over the next few decades!!! Enjoy our concert!
