Now that I have the sixth badge, it is time to head off to Spikemuth, but along the way, I encounter Team Yell with a Drednaw and the same man who game me the Rotom Bike, which must mean an upgrade will be coming soon. As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description From what I have seen, Route 9 is a very big route, and there are a lot of new encounters, so I will start with the main area, and most of which are Water-type Pokémon, which can be really helpful if you are struggling with Gordie in Sword, as you can go to this route before taking on the Gym. To start things off is Pelipper, unless you caught a Wingull back in the Wild Area, Pelipper is not a bad choice, I recommend Drizzle, which would be Hydration if it was a Wingull. When using Pelipper, I would base your team around rain, so having moves like Thunder or Hurricane are good options, and Pelipper does get Hurricane. It learns Surf through TR, and if you want to theme your team around rain, Pelipper is a good option. Then we have Mareanie, which can be evolved into Toxapex in one level, and will learn Baneful Bunker upon evolution, which is like Protect, but will poison the target upon contact. Toxapex is a wall, it is a very defensive Pokémon with little offensive capabilities, but it does get a cool Ability called Merciless, where Toxapex will always score critical hits on a poisoned foe, it's a decent option, but I prefer using full offense when playing through the game, and Toxapex is more defensive. Jellicent has an interesting type combo of Water/Ghost, which is a good defensive typing, even though it has to watch out for Dark-types, and even though you could get Frillish back in the Wild Area, getting a Jellicent here isn't a bad choice. It has a decent movepool of Surf, Shadow Ball, Energy Ball, Psychic, and Ice Beam, and it can get Will-O-Wisp, so it can be used defensively, Jellicent is a good option to consider. Next is Pyukumuku, which does not learn any offensive moves, so don't even bother using one. You can also find Gastrodon here, so it's there if you didn't train up a Shellos back in Galar Mine No. 2, and it is a good addition to your team. Now onto random encounters, and this is the first place you can get Cramorant outside of the Wild Area, and to start things off is Octillery, this Pokémon is very versatile, it can get Psybeam, Bullet Seed, and Ice Beam as level up moves, and its TM and TR movepool is very wide, it can get Surf, Flamethrower, Rock Blast, Sludge Bomb, Energy Ball, Flash Cannon, Gunk Shot, and many others. Downside to Octillery is its low Speed, but it is a decent Pokémon to consider. You can also get its pre-evolved form Remoraid as an encounter in the water, but it would be better to catch it as an Octillery. Kingler got a good movepool upgrade, it can learn Razor Shell and Hammer Arm, and has a really good Attack stat. It can be taught Brick Break, X-Scissor and Superpower for good moves. It's a good option for a Physical Water-type. You can get Pincurchin here, but I went over it in the previous part, because Hop used one. After beating Team Yell, you will get an upgrade to the Rotom Bike, which allows you to cross water, like how you would use Surf, and one encounter in the water is Qwilfish, it's a decent Water/Poison-type Physical attacker that can get Aqua Tail and Poison Jab, as well as interesting moves like Spikes, Thunder Wave, and Destiny Bond, but there are better options out there. You can encounter Mantyke, and to evolve it into Mantine, you will need a Remoraid in your party, I wouldn't recommend catching it, because you can encounter wild Mantine further on into the Route. It has excellent Special Defense, and can learn some good moves like Surf, Air Slash, Bullet Seed, Psybeam, and a few others, so I would say it's a decent option. Now with the Rotom Bike, you can visit a new location called Axew's Eye in the Wild Area, and fitting enough, you can encounter Axew, as well as some evolved Pokémon, including Crustle, Mudsdale, Bewear, Crawdaunt, Seismitoad, Kingler, Bronzong, Claydol, Unfezant, and a few others, as well as Haxorus as the special overworld encounter, which will be very high levelled, some of these evolved Pokémon can make good additions to your team. This is where you can find another Tart Apple or Sweet Apple, which you can use to evolve Applin, as well as a TM for Air Slash, a good Special Flying-type move that can be learned by Pokémon like Togekiss, Xatu, Noivern, and a few others, and it is also a nice coverage option on some Pokémon, like Inteleon, Frosmoth, and Vikavolt. There is also the Lake of Outrage in the Wild Area which can be accessed with the Rotom Bike, but I will save it for later, as there are some high levelled Pokémon, most of which are fully evolved.
