Christmas can be an expensive time of year so anything you can do to save some money is welcome. This willow wreath costs only pence to produce as most ofthe ingredients are foraged from a country walk or the garden. The only costs involved are for the gold florists spray, glue, ribbon and some green garden clip wire. Start by cutting some pliable willow wands about the thickness of a pencil; if they are not pliable enough just soak them for 24 hours. Start by wiring together some wands into a circle, at first they may not resemble a circle but as you weave in more wands it will become more circular. Once you have a substantial wreath it is time to decorate. In the video it is decorated by winding in some ivy, leaving some trailing at the bottom, and gluing on teasels and pine cones and finishing with a spray of fresh crab apples at the top to balance the composition and add some colour. But you can add fresh berries, baubles, dried fruit and cinnamon sticks, buttons, salt dough decorations or anything you have left over from decorating the tree.
