Aramaic Project - 407 : കാറോസൂസ|The chanting style of KAROZUSA | Syriac Qurbana

Note: The title of this chant-like call to prayer comes from the Aramaic root, “Q’raa,” meaning to call out. The word is also used in reference to the proclamation of the Gospel, as in "Karozusa d'Mathai" (Proclamation of Matthew).The deacon calls out loudly for the whole congregation to hear the intentions (imagine a world without a public address system), and the congregation responds. “Lord have mercy on us.” Karozuza is part of many prescriptive prayers of public worship. In the example here, the deacon starts the intention in a tonal speech and ends with a melodic cadence that is conducive for the congregation to respond in the same pitch register.
