Mode80 PE Foam Mod with Dogikon Switches

The Mode80's stack-gasket mount might not be everyone's cup of tea and they say that it can come off as muted in some builds, but for me, the combination of the FR4 plate with its mounting system make for a very solid and consistent sound signature. I really love my Mode80 since its my first premium mechanical keyboard. It made me see and feel what the difference would be if I went knee-deep into this hobby, and it made me a believer with custom mechanical keyboards. I often see some criticisms about the stack mount of the 2020 Mode80 that it is quite boring and uninspired when it comes to the sound and firm typing feel... they are right but for my preference I see it as "consistent" rather than "boring". Buuuut... aesthetically I might eventually pass this on for a different board haha! Not do discourage anyone from getting it! The 2022 version offers more mounting options and I absolutely love the typing angle, front height, and overall value of this excellent keyboard! Now on to the sound! The Dogikon switches are basically a recolor of the Alpaca V2s as far as I can tell. I spring swapped them with 72g slow extreme II springs and oh man heavier springs are really for me! That piano-like feedback, combined with the poppy-clack sound signature of the Dogikons make for an enjoyable sound! The stack-gasket mount of the Mode80 makes it feel like a very forward sounding keyboard. Meaning it does not feel like the inner acoustics of the board have much of an effect to the sound (I THINK, I do not know much about engineering and inner acoustics haha, only saying how it seems like in my observation). The PE Foam really gives an emphasis on the low-end deepness of the board, but does not completely mask the clackiness of the Dogikons which makes for a fun sound! I would describe the sound as a poppy sound signature, with a satisfying hint of deepness especially with the spacebar.
