Special Memorial Rundown Edition: First Pediatric Kidney Transplant

Congratulations to the Memorial Transplant Institute and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital for performing its first pediatric kidney transplant. A special thank you goes to our incredible team of physicians, clinicians, and staff who made this possible for our patient and for putting Memorial Healthcare System on the map. We have plenty to celebrate not only as a milestone but as what this means for our team. The kidney transplant comes less than a year after Memorial received federal approval from UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) to launch an adult and pediatric kidney transplant program at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. The kidney transplant program now joins Memorial’s adult and pediatric cardiac transplant programs under the umbrella of the Memorial Transplant Institute. The Institute is the only one of its kind in Broward County and one of only two programs in South Florida to offer kidney and heart transplants to both children and adults.
