Post Pahalgam attack, suspension of Indus Water Treaty 1960 by India has brought immense hope to the people of western Rajasthan. Especially people in border areas like Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Jodhpur are delighted with Centre’s decision. Villagers in Rajasthan’s Barmer, near India-Pak border, said the move could end the region’s drinking water crisis and transform agriculture. Farmer Sher Singh Sodha a resident, said the Indus River water could now be diverted to the arid region, boosting the agriculture. Hakam Singh, a villager expressed faith in the Modi government, recalling how Narmada water reached Barmer from afar.
