As you can see, today I want to show one of my 120 mm fan collections that I feel I’ve never really shown before: the Sanyo Denki DC San Ace with a purple sticker. I’m not entirely sure about the exact meaning behind the sticker colors why some are purple and others are orange but based on my experience collecting and maintaining these older Sanyo fans from before the black n white San Ace sticker era, I’ve noticed that purple stickers are usually used for 12V DC fans, while orange stickers are typically for 24V DC models. If you remember this particular Sanyo Denki model, it has a sibling that shares almost the same structure, with the main differences being the blade design and the frame. They’re actually very pnp if I swap the blades between the two. Personally, I find this design quite interesting, even though it’s a standard model and not a high class version with a metal body. I used to own a metal body DC San Ace with this same design, but unfortunately the motor had weakened and one of the fan blades broke, so I glued it back together and eventually gave it to a friend. This purple San Ace with a plastic body is its replacement. Even though I haven’t been able to find the old metal body version again, I’ll keep waiting until I do. In terms of performance, it’s actually quite good, and I believe this is the highest speed version of this design at 0.52A. From what I’ve researched, there doesn’t seem to be any variant with a higher current rating than 0.52A. Despite its age, this fan is truly impressive.
