Marina de Porto, also known as Porto, is a picturesque village on the northwest coast of Corsica. It lies between Ajaccio and Calvi and is known for its stunning scenery and the Gulf of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is famous for its red rocky coast and deep blue sea, which attracts many visitors every year. The small port town is an ideal starting point for excursions along the west coast. You can take boat trips to the wild La Scandola peninsula in the north or drive through the impressive rocky landscape of the Calanche and into the beautiful village of Piana. Porto also offers beautiful hikes, such as to the Capu d'Ortu or into the famous Gorges de Spelunca gorge. A highlight in Porto is the Genoese watchtower Tour de Porto, which was built in the 15th century and restored in 1992. From there you have a wonderful view of the Gulf of Porto. There are numerous hotels and restaurants along the port that blend harmoniously into the surroundings. The beaches around Porto are also worth seeing. Plage de Bussaglia, Plage de Caspiu and Plage de Gratelle are beautiful pebble beaches north of Porto, while Plage de Girolata is only accessible by boat. Plage de Ficajola is a gorgeous little beach south of Porto, accessible via a narrow road and steep path. Porto is a wonderful place to experience the natural beauty of Corsica while immersing yourself in the island's history and culture.
