This week’s BrYangle Report is the Inspiration Show for the current photo challenge: Ghost in the Machine. This theme can go a lot of directions — and that’s kind of the point. The phrase comes from philosophy, and later from The Police album in 1981. It wasn’t about literal ghosts. It was about the idea that something human lives inside systems and machines that are cold, precise, and technical. That felt very familiar to me… because that’s photography. A camera is just a machine. The photo happens when you step in. In this episode, I’m not telling you how to shoot this theme. I’m just opening the door a bit and talking about what the idea means, where it came from, and why your first instinct matters more than getting it “right.” If your take is literal — great. If it’s abstract — also great. Don’t correct yourself yet. Just make the photo. This isn’t a critique show.
