Getting Started with Options | Cameron May | 3-17-26 Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options. https://bit.ly/2v9tH6D When options premiums rise and traders begin describing the market as an “options seller’s market,” it’s often because volatility has increased and stock prices are moving more aggressively. But those same conditions that produce richer premiums for sellers may also create meaningful opportunities for options buyers. In this video, titled “Why an Options Seller’s Market May Be a Great Time to Buy,” we’ll explore the traditional idea of buyer’s and seller’s markets in options trading and discuss how periods of elevated volatility can potentially expand profit opportunities (and, yes, risk exposure) for traders using long option strategies. Using the thinkorswim Desktop paperMoney platform, we’ll review current market conditions and walk through a scan designed to identify stocks experiencing higher volatility and stronger price movement. From those results, we’ll evaluate potential candidates and discuss how a trader might approach buying options during more volatile periods. Finally, we’ll use one of the examples to plan and place a sample trade in our paperMoney portfolio to illustrate how these concepts might be applied in practice. Each of these weekly webcasts is carefully structured to help new option traders along the leverage learning curve. Your education coach will introduce you to options terminology, clarify the common opportunities and risks, and explain the associated rights and obligations to help you become more confident with your understanding of options trading. Options carry a high level of risk and are not suitable for all investors. Certain requirements must be met to trade options through Schwab.
