The eight episode of the series introduces the visual research method of photographic elicitation. In photographic elicitation, photographs are used during a semi-structured interview, to stimulate the conversation. The video showcases an early study, from 1957, on the merits of this approach, by John Collier. Collier’s later textbook also has a helpful chapter on photographic elicitation; and I consulted a chapter by Francesco Lapenta when making this video. These sources are below. Collier, J. (1957).
