This phenomenal hunting trip has been on my bucket list as long as I've been able to hunt. We hunted free-range, wild water buffalo, feral scrub bulls, pigs, dingo's and feral cats in the rugged, remote and stunning Northern Territory of Australia. Enjoy this self-filmed footage as I attempt to drag you along for the ride. This video is the combination of an amazing week hunting and stalking these dangerous large animals, all folded into a film length upload. Trips like this don't begin without the generosity of many people. I have to give a huge shout out to Darryl and his family from Coolalinga Guns and Ammo, in Darwin. Without his networking, this one wouldn't have even got off the ground. Tie that in with my great unnamed mate "Bucket", and a trip was hatched out over a few months of planning. I also need to call out Scott, Tony, Clarke, Sam, Bruce, David, Anthony and Brad. You guys all played a huge part in this one too. I know there's many other people we met on the stations to call out, you all know who you are, and we thank you for the hospitality and land access to hunt. Solo filming this type of content is a huge challenge, especially carrying all my crap in the heat. If you would like to additionally support me, here is the link to my Patreon. You will gain early access to the video's and all are posted free of advertising. Plus, this is the path if you wish for more personal engagement and to chat about gear directly. https://www.patreon.com/user?u=37396112 These places definitely get in your blood, and I can't wait to get back in 2025. Saying that, I don't think I've ever been as dirty as you become after a single day in the dry conditions in the NT. It's hot, dusty, steamy, smelly and it's also HOT, did I mention that..... I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. Honestly, we took all the camping gear, and were spoiled with air-conditioned rooms and daily showers. I'd love to say we roughed it, but we were treated so well by everyone, this fact needs a mention alone. All this hunting occurred on private land in the NT. Everything taken was a free-range, wild animal. Some of the shooting we did was purely pest control. The Water Buffalo and feral Scrub Bull are often a pest species too, but also a resource on many stations, depending on the export markets and demand. I'm very grateful we had the opportunities to hunt the animals we did. My rifle was a Lithgow LA102 Hunter chambered in 308 Winchester. Scope of a daytime was an Alpen Optics Apex XD 1.5-9x45mm, worked an absolute treat and is a fantastic glass scope. Binoculars were Delta Optical HD 9x45 RF's, having that rangefinder on board was mint. Thermals - I'm running my trusty Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XL50 on the rifle, and the thermal scanner is my Pulsar Merger LRF XL50 binoculars. It's interesting to hear people tell me that thermal won't work properly in the NT, well, I think this video is a decent example of how it does. Yes, I'm running top tier 1024x768 resolution devices, maybe that played a part in the functionality and how well it all worked. Either way, stuff died, and we experienced no issued what so ever with a nighttime environment it was not usable in. All through this video I'm running Fiocchi 308Win ammunition with 150 grain EPN rounds (Hornady SST projectiles) which as you can see, hammered everything as usual. While I wouldn't recommend most people to use a 308Win on large game like Buffalo, both Bucket and I are professional pest control shooters back home. So I guess we lent on those skills a little when required. If you are not very patient and practiced for head shots, I would not recommend others to use a 308Win on big game like we did. I can also say these rounds work very ethically on feral cats, and maybe a few cane toads...... Fortunately, we also had a Sako S90 big game rifle chambered in 375 H&H. This was great for the large critters of a daytime running either Norma 300 grain rounds, or 270 grain Sako ammo. Scope on this boomer was a Steiner Ranger 1-4x24mm, also very nice.
