On my property, a colony of ants have ”paved” a road through the forest. This is 12 hours of the workers working. Continuous recording, no loop. The clip is shot at 60 fps and slowed down to cinematic 24 fps. The ants are so hard working that they had to be slowed down for us mere humans to be able to see what they’re doing. The audio is the ambience from the area. The ants themselves don’t make much noise. Apparently, they communicate by chemicals called pheromones. Ants are eusocial insects of the family Formicidae and, along with the related wasps and bees, belong to the order Hymenoptera. Ants evolved from vespoid wasp ancestors in the Cretaceous period. More than 13,800 of an estimated total of 22,000 species have been classified. They are easily identified by their geniculate (elbowed) antennae and the distinctive node-like structure that forms their slender waists. Ants have colonised almost every landmass on Earth.
