Lessons from designing, deploying and iterating a large scale production infrastructure over a decade at Yelp. Tom is a seasoned developer and site reliability engineer with decades of web and backend development experience. He excels at designing resilient systems, implementing automation and communicating technical tradeoffs. Tomas has worked in many roles across the industry, most recently as a Group Technical Lead at Yelp, leading multiple major projects across cloud infrastructure, telephony and data streaming. As a strong believer in open-source, a lot of Tom’s personal projects can be found on his GitHub and he has shared his insights as an invited speaker at events such as Hashiconf and Puppetconf. He holds an MEng in Electronic Systems Engineering from Victoria University of Manchester and outside of work can mostly be found in the gym or playing DnD.
