For my brother. Life is made up of moments. Every once in a while you get a perfect one. Mahana, also known as Green Sands Beach, is on the southern tip of the big island of Hawaii. Although you can't really tell from the still pictures (the moving images are of other beaches in HI found on the public domain site http://www.archive.org/details/movies) the sand is a rich dark green made from the mineral olivine. If ever given the opportunity and are up for a hike to get there, there is a certain magic to this place in its seclusion and beauty you must experience. I was lucky enough to visit it with my brother this past summer and it inspired this song. The video on the other hand isn't so great. But you can't win 'em all, right? Mahana let's go down to south point walk along the red road follow the sound of stone and sea to where the blue meets green silver and black are sparkling our skin is too the sun shimmers in the east and in this moment is peace you've always been the sun the one i've looked up to parallel lives seven years apart we're of the same heart the world is dark and troubled ohana helps us through everyone wants what we found here that perfect moment so clear when our shadows grow long and thick with memories the tears begin before i'm gone and brother our lives move on so let's go back to south point kick up the dust and let it fall 'cuz when mahana cries you heed the green sands call ltan 8/09 © lisa tan 2009 http://ltantunes.bandcamp.com
