The Best of John MacArthur on Larry King Live: In Memoriam (July 2025)

It was both an honor and a convicting education putting this together over the last few days. Would that God would make me, and every person (but men especially) professing to be a Christian, as bold and courageous and biblically faithful as John MacArthur consistently was, even in the most unfriendly situations. Topic 1: "Who 'Was' Jesus?" - 0:00:08 Topic 2: "Same-Sex 'Marriage'" - 0:17:33 Topic 3: "God and the Presidency" - 0:32:06 Topic 4: "God, and Good vs. Evil" - 0:37:50 Topic 5: "God vs. Science?" - 0:58:56 Topic 6: "What Happens After We Die?" - 1:05:49 #johnmacarthur #johnmacarthurdeath #johnmacarthurlarryking #larryking ______________________ Some afterthoughts: At 0:06:09, Dennis Prager stated, "I don't believe that necessarily [Jesus] said those things. I don't know that. It is an act of faith on your part that He even said it." Larry then asked Dennis, "But you accept what Moses said?" to which Prager replied, "Yes, I do." I'd like to say two quick things about that exchange. First, the New Testament, especially including the four, independently attested eyewitness Gospel records of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John — that is, four distinct historical biographies, each of which reports the very words of Jesus of Nazareth — are exceedingly and abundantly supported by greater manuscript evidence (both in terms of quantity, quality, and the short time gap between the earliest extant copies and the original autographs) than ANY writings of antiquity (and that's an understatement). In fact, the words of Jesus in the Gospels — which, again, were recorded by eyewitnesses who knew Him personally and are, therefore, THE primary historical sources on His life — are better corroborated than even the Torah (i.e., the first five books of the Old Testament, which were authored by Moses), which itself is also well attested. That being the case, I would love to ask Dennis a follow-up question: "Why do you trust that we have the very words of Moses, but you doubt that we have the very words of Jesus, when the latter has even greater manuscript support than the former?" Second, I would love to point out to Dennis what Jesus Himself said (again, we have ample reasons to trust that He actually said these words) regarding the writings of Moses: "I have come in My Father’s name, and you [i.e., unbelieving Jews] do not receive Me. . . . Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope. For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe [Moses'] writings, how will you believe My words?” —John 5: 43–47
