The vocals were recorded three times. …of course they were, right? The first time was before I'd figured out the melody and just sounded wrong. Then, once I'd sorted out how it should go (and then spending another evening recording), I realised that the song was completely out of my range and I was straining to hit the notes. So in order to record the third and final set of vocals, I had to transpose the key down by two semitones and basically re-record the whole thing. Like I said on the show, I considered getting some Fiverr artists to track some guitars, bass or even drums for me, but figured I'd challenge myself to see if I could get something passable from plug-ins and my cheap battered Squire Strat. Producing and mixing music used to be the thing I wanted to do more than anything. Creating this silly song about an infamous internet e-begger's insistence on referring to the concept of capturing gameplay footage using a capture card as "direct capture" made me remember what it was that I loved about it.
