Eucharistic Procession for Forty Hours Devotion at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Rome - 2026 Forty Hours Devotion is an extended period of continuous Eucharistic adoration, traditionally lasting forty hours in remembrance of the time Christ’s Body lay in the tomb. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is accompanied by solemn Masses, litanies, preaching, and Benediction. Originating in sixteenth-century Italy and promoted widely in the Roman Rite, it fosters reparation, intercession, and deeper Eucharistic faith through sustained communal prayer before the exposed Host. Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini is a sixteenth-century church near Campo de’ Fiori, founded to serve pilgrims and convalescents. Today it is entrusted to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and is renowned for the solemn celebration of the 1962 Missale Romanum. Its Baroque interior, adorned with works attributed to Guido Reni and others, reflects Rome’s tradition of Eucharistic devotion, sacred art, and generous hospitality.
