There's Something about You | Tracey Deer

How has being Mohawk shaped Tracey Deer's film career? About the project - Ten anglophone Quebecers, all well-known public figures, are the focus of this program that has been developed and implemented by Blue Metropolis Foundation. The program promotes the empowerment and sense of belonging of Quebec’s anglophone communities, while marking the 50th anniversary of Canada’s Official Languages Act. Forty anglophone students in Journalism at Concordia University will be invited to write an essay on one of these ten public figures who belong to Quebec’s anglophone community. In their essays, the students will explain why, like these public figures, they are determined to remain in Quebec. The students’ essays will explore this question and develop their reasoning, in particular when describing their attachment to Quebec and the dreams they hope to realize in the coming years. Ten students will then be selected on the basis of their aspirations, in order to develop a personal project that each will carry out here in Quebec. This project, titled “There’s Something About You”, will culminate in a contest. The ten selected projects will be voted on by the general public, and the anglophone student who gets the greatest number of votes will receive a grant that will allow them to carry out their project, one that will benefit the anglophone community as well as the whole of Quebec.
