Psalm 119:20 (NIV) 1. I make the foundation of my life God’s Word. Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house upon the rock. Matthew 7:24 (NIV) 2. I feed on God’s Word. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Colossians 3:16a 1. Receive it with my ears. 2. Read it with my eyes. 3. Research it with my hands & mouth. 4. Reflect on it with my mind. 5. Remember it with my heart. 3. I live by God’s Word. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11 4. I grow through God’s Word. “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” Psalm 119:18 (NIV) PARABLE OF THE 4 SOILS (Luke 8:4-15) 1. The hardened soil = a closed mind Action: cultivate an open mind 2. The shallow soil = the superficial mind Action: make time for God’s Word 3. The soil with weeds = a preoccupied mind Action: eliminate distractions 4. The good soil = a willing mind Action: cooperate with what God says 5. I act on God’s Word. “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.” James 1:22 6. I must trust in God’s Word. “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105
