How much does a wedding DJ earn? Welcome back to #Questions, it’s been almost 2 months since I have done a #Questions video! In this question that I received in the comments section of a recent video from Scott Geoffrey who asked… Another Great Video, (Thanks Scott) How much can a corporate / wedding DJ with all the best equipment make an evening if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks That’s quite a bit bigger question than many realise! But one everyone wants to Know How Much can A Wedding DJ Earn! Lets start this off by saying, you don’t get the big DJ money gigs because of the DJ gear or DJ setup you have. Although that can help get booking and increase the rate that a client will pay. You get the big DJ gigs because of DJ Reputation / DJ Reviews, Style of Djing, DJ Marketing, DJ Ability and how you package yourself as a DJ Product or DJ Service that people want to book. If you come across confident and professional DJ and know your DJ stuff then you will attract the higher paying DJ clients. With DJ corporate events and top DJ weddings, DJ prices are not usually their first question and it should not be the first thing you give them, if they ask about DJ price first move the subject to what they want. Sell them the dream they are after, that way price becomes less relevant. Going back to the bigger weddings I find many are not interested in DJ price first, lets face it when they are spending £30 - £40,000 on a wedding what’s another grand or so for the main evenings entertainment? What they do need to know is that you can deliver 100% of the time. I win plenty of quotes for bigger wedding because I am the most expensive quote they have had, who can trust their entire wedding evenings entertainment on someone who is only charging £300 or £400! And how can you pay for the equipment, music, transport, marketing and all the costs you have unless you charge a fair fee for the work you put in. In my opinion too many DJ’s put a glass celling on their DJ earnings by approaching the sale of their DJ services in the wrong way. There is no point believing that because you don’t have the latest lights, booth and so on that you can’t get high paying top gigs. Self belief is a massive part of any DJ’s sucsess and ability to earn. That does not mean however that you can afford to be arrogant or cocky as that wont help at all. In fact being nice, friendly at all times helps build that reputation that you need. If you want to earn that top money you have to be the top of your game and business savvy.
