Situated on a peninsula that extends five kilometers into the sea, this town with a population of 14,560 has a unique character and atmosphere. Situated 18 kilometers northeast of Burgas and 408 kilometers east of Sofia, Pomorie impresses with its appearance, especially when entering through the long and narrow isthmus between the sea and the liman. From the north, the estuary of the Pomorie peninsula gives the impression of crashing into it, giving the town a unique landscape. Pomorie is not just a town, it is also a popular tourist resort. Located only 20 kilometers away from Bourgas and 10 kilometers away from Nessebar and Sunny Beach resort complex, it offers exceptional natural conditions. The 4200 meters long sandy shore and the breakwaters, which effectively protect bathers, create ideal conditions for safe and comfortable swimming for inexperienced swimmers as well as for small children. Apart from the beautiful coastline, Pomorie is famous for its diverse offer in entertainment and gastronomy. The pedestrian zone of the town is filled with cozy restaurants and bars offering not only national Bulgarian dishes, but also European cuisine. Special attention should be paid to the unique brandy produced by the local wine and brandy factory, which has gained popularity not only among locals, but also outside the country. However, Pomorie is not only about resort recreation and gastronomic pleasures. There are also places in this town that can amaze with historical heritage. Architectural Reserve "Old Houses of Pomorie" is an old quarter where crooked cobbled streets and 19th century houses representing traditional Black Sea architecture have been preserved. The main pearl of the town that welcomes every visitor is the Monastery of St. George. This active monastery, built in the 7th century, is a unique historical site in the southeast of Bulgaria. In Pomorie you can also visit the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord Christ, located on the edge of the peninsula.
