[Part 3] Silvesterchlausen Old New Year Appenzell, Switzerland | Schwellbrunn – Waldstatt – Hundwil

In Part 3 of our Old New Year’s Eve 2023 journey, we remain for a while at the farm in Waldstatt. A wüeschter Schuppel (wild group) crosses paths with the departing schöni Chläuse (beautifully masked carolers) from Part 2. We continue following the ritual of the Silvesterchläuse in Appenzell Ausserrhoden — featuring their Zäuerli (natural yodeling) and the rhythmic sounds of Schellen (bells) and Rollen. After this group departs, we move on and encounter more schöni Chläuse between Urnäsch and Waldstatt. Despite light rain and strong gusts of wind, we stay at the farm to enjoy the full performance of this Schuppel.
