The degree programme in architecture teaches knowledge, skills and abilities for the design and project planning of buildings and structural facilities as well as for urban planning. Optionally, in-depth studies can be carried out on special building planning (residential buildings, public buildings, commercial buildings, social and health buildings and interior design) or on urban and spatial planning, on special principles and methods of monument preservation as well as in other special areas. The close links with the Landscape Architecture degree programme should also be emphasised. The complexity and balance of the theoretical, artistic, technical and ecological components within the educational process is a typical feature of the Dresden diploma programme. In terms of professional requirements, applicants should have a good general education, an interest in artistic design, powers of observation, spatial imagination, creativity and technical understanding.
