Lookout Mountain Avenue Hollywood Hills West / Los Angeles Episode 87 Lookout Mountain Avenue is situated in the Hollywood Hills just off Laurel Canyon Blvd. This neighborhood offers secluded hillside retreats as well as stunning architectural estates with explosive city views. Also located in the area is the coveted Wonderland Elementary School District. Until the twentieth century, passage up Laurel Canyon was made on foot or by mule. In 1907 an 82-mile dirt road, later named Laurel Canyon Boulevard, was built. It ran up the canyon, dividing at what is now Lookout Mountain Ave, the left road went up to the summit of Lookout Mountain, and the right branch of the road went to the top of the Santa Monica Mountains and then down to the San Fernando Valley. In this trip which starts slow due to (seemingly incessant) construction, we begin near the Canyon Country Store and quickly hop back on Laurel Canyon Blvd headed North. At the light (02:40) we turn onto Lookout Mountain Ave which stretches all the way up to the Hollywood Hills where we twist through the narrow streets headed North onto Mulholland Drive where we head West (14:30). From Mulholland Drive we head South onto Coldwater Canyon (19:05) where we eventually turn East to complete the loop. Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio
