Shaper Steve Lis is credited with originally creating the fish surfboard design. He came up with the idea of splitting the pintail on his kneeboard as he wanted to space out his fins more for greater hold and performance. It proved to be a winning formula and it wasn’t long before he refined the design to suit stand-up surfers and as they say, the rest is history. Mikey February's never-ending curiosity for exploring new lines led to him and Britt Merrick seeking out their own take on this classic design. The result is the 'Feb's Fish' and is yet again another iconic board in the Channel Islands stable. Britt took the traditional fish outline and gave it a contemporary engine (modern bottom contours, rocker, etc.) and finely foiled rails in his quest for it to be ridden at the highest performance levels possible. During its R&D stage they both discovered their new fish comfortably covered a wide range of conditions: from dredging tubes in Mainland Mexico, to high lining with ease at Rincon as the board effortlessly got up on rail and enabled tight arcing turns with full commitment and confidence. It is now a staple board in Mikey's travel quiver and is his go-to design when cruising at home. Our stock of 'Feb's Fish' covers a wide range of sizes in both a clear and classic red/yellow rail finish. View the 'Feb's Fish' on our website for detailed info and also to watch the 'Spearfish' movie which showcases the steez master himself riding the design in a wide range of conditions.
