Teaching the Underhand Throw with Rhymes

Kathy Wagner | Wichita Collegiate School | Wichita, KS In this physical education lesson, the teacher uses simple rhymes to teach students how to throw a ball underhanded -- also known as the "tick tock throw." The students learn to hold the ball with their dominant hand and step forward with the opposite foot, and they coordinate their movements using the rhyme "Tick, tock, step, and rock." They also learn to aim their throw at the person's chest, using the rhyme "Chest is best."
