In which I discuss the wonderful new physical modeling synthesizer Anyma Phi, from Aodyo, featuring code from Emilie Gillet of Mutable Instruments, which the good people at Aodyo acknowledge and thank her for. And then I present audio demos of the first two patches that I created on the machine. (The free computer based editor software is a big help and works great.) The Anyma Phi packs a huge array of physical modeling and other sound sources, audio processors, and modulators into a beautifully built and designed, very economical instrument. It's monophonic. But the sound is full and complex, you can have 3 different oscillators or sound sources, including external audio, and they can all be tuned differently. Each of the audio examples in the video was recorded in one take, with no layering. They don't sound monophonic to me. They sound like they're bursting with richness and complexity. All the sounds and FX are the Anyma Phi itself, except for the Softube Drawmer S73 compression and Variverb Pro reverb that I almost always add in post production. In the second patch example, I added a kick and a hi hat from Native Instruments Battery. The Anyma Phi also includes a variety of percussion models, like Kick and Hi Hat, but I haven't tried them yet. Check out my video where I say thank you to Emilie Gillet one hundred times. • Thank you, Emilie Gillet - one hundred times
