In this easy Chinese Char Siu recipe, my mom shows you how to make delicious Char Siu pork with just a few simple steps and ingredients. The result is tender, flavorful pork with an authentic Char Siu taste that will delight your taste buds. Ingredients: 1 kg pork, sliced 3 teaspoons chopped ginger 3 teaspoons chopped garlic 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon chicken powder Sprinkle of white pepper 2 teaspoons hoisin sauce 1 teaspoon chee hou sauce 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon light soy sauce 2 teaspoons mushroom dark soy sauce 1 tablespoon brandy or Chinese rice wine 1 teaspoon oyster sauce 1 tablespoon honey A handful of Chinese rock candy sugar 1 tablespoon cornstarch Instructions: Marinate the pork slices with chopped ginger, chopped garlic, salt, chicken powder, white pepper, hoisin sauce, chee hou sauce, sesame oil, light soy sauce, mushroom dark soy sauce, brandy or Chinese rice wine, oyster sauce, honey, Chinese rock candy sugar, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the pork evenly. Cover and place in the fridge overnight to marinate. The next day, heat a wok or pot with a few spoons of olive oil or cooking oil over medium heat. Add the marinated pork slices to the pot and fry for about 5 minutes until lightly browned. Pour in one bowl of water and let the pork cook for 15 minutes. Keep an eye on the meat and flip it around occasionally to ensure even cooking. When the water content is almost dried up, brush the Char Siu sauce and honey mixture onto the pork slices. Turn the heat down to low and allow the sauce to thicken and caramelize, coating the pork beautifully. Once the sauce has thickened and the pork is glazed with the Char Siu sauce, your easy Chinese Char Siu is ready to be served. Enjoy your homemade Char Siu with steamed rice or as part of a delicious Chinese meal. Bon appétit!
