'Eine Faust-Ouvertüre', d-Moll WWV 59 is a concert overture by German composer Richard Wagner. Wagner originally composed it between 1839 and 1840, intending it to be the first movement of a Faust Symphony based on the play Faust by German playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Realizing that he would not finish the planned symphony, Wagner revised the piece between 1843 and 1844, incorporating ideas from the other planned movements, and creating instead a single-movement concert overture. He made a final revision in 1855. The work is one of Wagner's few compositions intended for the concert hall, rather than the theatre. The video is parts of a silent movie, "Rapsodia Satanica'. A tale about an old woman who makes a pact with Mephisto to regain her youth, in return she must stay away from love... 'Rhapsody of Satan' is an Italian silent film melodrama directed by Nino Oxilia for the Società Italiana Cines. Alberto Fassini wrote the screenplay based on a poem by Fausto Maria Martini (1886–1931) from 1915. The original film music was composed by Pietro Mascagni, one of the most important representatives of verismo. The leading role was played by the Italian silent film diva Lyda Borelli. The film did not premiere until 1917 due to various obstacles.
