Take Flight are thrilled to unveil their eagerly awaited new single, The Inconsistent, set to release on 9th April 2025. Expanding on the "Big Riffs and Emo Sensibilities" ethos showcased in their debut EP Grey., and the sound developed in their follow-up single A Modern Allegory of the Cave, The Inconsistent amplifies the band's raw yet tender fusion of rock and metal. This track is a powerful blend of emotive vocals, introspective lyrics, and nostalgic yet modern post-hardcore riffs. For fans of the heartfelt emotion of Holding Absence, the British swagger of Boston Manor, combined with the roaring post-hardcore riffs of Fightstar, Alexisonfire, and Funeral for a Friend, The Inconsistent delivers a beautifully punishing British punch, elevated by its thought-provoking narrative. Opening with a driven, frenetic riff, the song sets a determined tone from the start. Mike and Zander's voices intertwine, telling a poignant story of addiction, loneliness, loss, and defiance. As the track progresses, it erupts into a soaring chorus, with riffs propelling the song at a rapid pace. The lyrics delve deeply into themes of isolation, loneliness, regret, and addiction, touching on concepts of the human psyche and fear of the unknown. The Inconsistent presents a sonic allegory that is as impactful lyrically as it is instrumentally. The band prides itself on being unapologetically honest about topics such as mental health and substance abuse, often weaving their thoughts and ideas with heartfelt melodies and hard-hitting guitar riffs. The Inconsistent is no exception. The song’s overriding message is one of personal acceptance of the darker, more impulsive side of one's personality. The Inconsistent can be interpreted in different ways, but generally, it reflects a combination of feeling lost, abusing alcohol exacerbated by ADHD symptoms, and general feelings of loneliness. This side of a personality can cause complete chaos but ultimately is one to be loved and respected. Evoking a myriad of emotions throughout, The Inconsistent is the culmination of passion and hard work from all the members of Take Flight, who have navigated the turbulence of the pandemic to find their footing in a new world. "This is the evolution of the sound we explored with Grey. and Cave., building on the emotive and atmospheric qualities of our songwriting, without compromising on the riffs," says Zander Dale, Lead Vocalist. The Inconsistent was mixed, produced and mastered by Oz Craggs (Feed The Rhino, Neck Deep, Mallory Knox, Polar) at Hidden Tracks Studios. Lyrics: Verse 1 Chemical, so unknown As above, so below All the people come and go Inconsistent static flow Chemical, so unknown Chorus So where am I supposed to go? When everything I’ve ever known has moved away. I seem to love the inconsistent Watch the colours start to fade And all the bridges that I’ve burnt won’t be remade Seem to love the inconsistent Verse 2 Standing tall, all alone Chemical, free fall Speech We are such stuff As dreams are made of, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. Ending You gave inches I took miles Found solace this time You make friends, I betray I chewed you up, I spat you out I like the taste
